Yang is the chair of the board of governors of the Thirty Meter Telescope in Hawaii — a project known equally for its scientific ambition and disputed construction on a mountain sacred to Native Hawaiians — two campus groups invited indigenous Hawaiian activists to speak about their opposition to the project during a town hall on Tuesday evening.
